The Viltier diamond

The Kimberley Process

For many years, the illegal diamond trade has been used to finance armed conflicts that have led to much violence. In an attempt to prevent this illicit international trade, the Kimberley Process was established in 2003. By committing to it, member states promise consumers that the diamonds purchased will not be used by rebel movements in certain countries to finance conflicts or destabilize existing governments.

Rough diamonds are transported and exported in secure containers. They are accompanied by certificates verified and validated by their government, with a unique serial number to allow their traceability. In addition, according to the Kimberley Process, diamonds that circulate can only be purchased between signatory states. At Viltier, we work exclusively with professionals who respect the Kimberley Process. All our diamonds are certified conflict-free.

The Responsible Jewelry Council, created in 2005, is an international certification organization. Its mission is to ensure and promote good practices among all stakeholders in the sector, from mining to distribution. Once again, RJC certification allows consumers to have guarantees on the conditions of extraction of stones and their traceability. This helps promote more responsible and sustainable practices for the entire jewelry industry. We are committed to working only with suppliers who are members of the RJC, and above all, in the longer term, to being part of this organization ourselves.
